Peter is an illustrator and architect from Illinois before being a watercolorist. I like his paintings polychromy, and the softness of the tones that contrasts with the vertiginous angles of view.

When I choose my subject, I am looking for a source of strong light, a light that will create sharp shadows and well marked and, I hope, bright spots on all of these mechanical parts as well as rich and varied light reflections. The low angle is an ideal angle of view to capture these reflections, which I try to emphasize in my compositions.
If the trains attract me, it's for their massive and imposing side. They are witnesses of our past, but now they are rusting, abandoned to their destiny, their entrails exposed to the spectator's gaze.
Equipped with my trusty tools - the masking tape, a cutter and a toothbrush - I can erase dark values, redefine contours and even erase and repaint the sky if needed. Experience has shown that it is possible to repeat twice before the sheet is rebounding.
