Overview

The weekend after, preparation of the background.

Drawing and watercolor have a size 21 to 29.7 cm. The objective is to establish the balance ofcontrasts and colors.

Right side

Study of the rightside

The next weekend, studies of the painting.

I have split the picture into two parts: window on the right side; alley on the left. On the window, the children asked me to add a cat.

There are several superimposed levels (the pot, the wall, the cat, the grid, the light). After a few sketches, a reflection on what can be a red cat against the day I launched.

Then I train on the portraits of Gabrielle and Gauthier.

Leftside

On this part, I hesitate for the color of the pots. On one hand I want to restore a fairly intense blue that is characteristic of the place, but on the other hand if the pots are blue, the picture becomes less clear.

I therefore opted for an earth color.

When the background is done, I paint again Gauthier’s portrait

Loriane

On various attempts, I have painted several times Gabrielle and Gauthier, but I have to practice a little more on the portrait of Loriane.

Forms and hairs are fairly simple, quickly I paint the portrait. I push the colors further, ignoring th disapproval of Gervaise

As I put darker colors, it softens the tones and features.
